This new feature allows you to control the overtime hours type, by making the field read only and auto allocating the hours after a certain threshold is met. You can define the time frame window for this threshold based on daily or weekly hours.
The overtime calculation is immediate. As in, you don’t have to wait until the timecard is approved. As soon as hours are entered, the system will re-allocate the hours to the OT column once the employee goes over your configured limit.
The ONE exception is exported hours. Once hours are exported, those hours are locked and cannot be changed. Any other non-exported hours are open for re-allocation.
Lastly, for a given employee, the OVT hours are placed in the LAST hourly record for the week that was added for the employee.
To configure this option:
- Go to your organization console
- Click to edit your company
- Within options, scroll down to the Payroll section
- Turn on the toggle for Automatic Overtime Calculation
- Now that this is enabled, you’ll have the option to set you Timeframe Window to either Day, or Week
- Next, you must define the threshold. I.e. 8 for daily, 40 for weekly.
- You’ll notice under Pay Types, that Regular and Overtime hours cells are enabled, and you will not be able to deselect the overtime cell. Other time is also available to be included as a pay type. Hours under ‘Other time’ do not count into the overtime auto-allocation.
How does it works?
Below is a video example showing how the hours are allocated when in the Daily time frame.
