Understanding Attendance Types in Riskcast: Kiosk vs. Self Check-in

Riskcast offers two primary methods for employees to record their attendance, providing flexibility to suit different operational needs: Kiosk Check-in and Self Check-in.

1. Kiosk Check-in

The Kiosk Check-in method is designed for situations where employees check in and out from a central, shared location, typically at a project site or office.

  • How it Works: Employees use a designated device (iPad or iPhone) set up as a "kiosk" at a fixed location. They interact with this device to record their check-in and check-out times. They are also able to record a photo and/or answer check in/out questions as needed.
  • Typical Use Cases:
    • Construction sites where a shared tablet is available for all workers to clock in and out at the start and end of their shifts.
    • Warehouses or manufacturing plants with a dedicated time clock station.
    • Office environments where employees use a common terminal for attendance.
  • Key Requirement: User Permissions
    • To use the Kiosk Check-in feature, at least one employee must have the necessary permissions enabled within their individual Riskcast user account and be the "admin" of one or more devices to allow employees to check in and out.

2. Self Check-in

The Self Check-in method empowers employees to clock in and out using their personal mobile devices, offering greater flexibility and mobility.

  • How it Works: Employees download the Riskcast mobile application to their smartphone or tablet. Through the app, they can initiate their own check-in and check-out, often leveraging the device's location services to verify they are at a designated worksite.
  • Typical Use Cases:
    • Field service technicians who move between multiple job sites throughout the day.
    • Remote workers or employees who don't report to a central physical location.
    • Employees who need the convenience of clocking in directly from their work zone.
  • Key Requirement: User Permissions
    • To use the Self Check-in feature, a user must first have an employee account for the company which they are a part of. Additionally, an employee must have the necessary permissions enabled within their individual Riskcast user account.

By understanding these two attendance types, you can choose the most suitable method(s) for your workforce and ensure accurate and efficient time tracking within Riskcast.
